Following recent work on startup time I assume, more occurrences are popping up in support where users are experiencing connection problems with the initial get mail on startup. There needs to be a way to "force" this free-for-all into some semblance of order or even enforce serialisation. Perhaps even allow for a manual setting of the order accounts are to be fetched. With users wanting mail from their "business" account first.

From my perspective the current approach appears to be anything but serial, so we are seeing errors from some servers about too many connections as some server do not differentiate on account. Just connections from an IP address, so users are falling foul of anti DOS type checks.

Personally I see issues with outlook.com it will get mail for one account and then refuse the connection for a second account, only to work fine for the rest of the session.

Other see too many IMAP connections errors. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1280365#answer-1292131
