User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:73.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/73.0
Steps to reproduce:
I had Firefox configured to block autoplaying gifs and pngs, because of the pain, the migraines, and possible seizures.
Actual results:
As of Firefox 73, changes in the about:config options have disabled the media.autoplay.enabled false fix.
media.autoplay.default settings are unclear, and neither 0 nor 1 blocks autopunching gifs and pngs.
The support page animates as it loads, due to the survey banner:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/block-autoplay
There is supposed to be a new fix in about:preferences, but it is in about:preferences so not accessible.
If I click on Preferences > Privacy and Security, and page down to try to reach the new accessibility preferences, I end up in > Sync.
Even if I select text in Preferences > Privacy & Security, I still end up in Sync.
If I select No Page Style to find an accessible way to reach these safety instructions, it doesn't work.
I found a workaround using search...
Expected results:
... but old safety settings shouldn't be broken like this, about:preferences should be more accessible, and instructions for new settings should take into account the accessibility limits of about:preferences.

That's always been for videos. Autoplay isn't a concept that applies to images; there's no such thing as on-demand image animation.
image.animation_mode is the relevant preference and by default it's set to normal. You can change it to either once or none. I verified that it disables animation on Giphy and the Wikipedia page for animated PNG. As far as I'm aware, there are only two cases where it's not possible to disable image animation: site icons (bug 236630) and the Page Info window Media section (bug 495918).
I'll reduce this report to the about:preferences complaint, since that part may be valid. You shouldn't conflate separate issues into one report regardless.
Well, image.animation_mode is still none, and didn't block the gif...

... but switching the preferences above blocked it.

That's an MP4 video on the page. Right-click it and note that you have options like Pause, View Video, and Save Video As.
If you left-click the link the preview points to, that opens a standalone animated GIF.
