I was looking at this and it seems worth noting that not only do we generate xpidllex and xpidlyacc with py2 but the files also read in as inputs to AccEventGen.py which also runs in py2. I'm no expert in this code but it feels like these will need to be updated together, unless AccEventGen.py isn't actually using xpidllex and xpidlyacc.

These files don't exist any more. :)
