According to behaviour of Finder and Sherlock. Similar to PC shift-click in scrolllbar for Win2k http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142459
Will, what Build ID are you reporting this bug against? WorksForMe using FizzillaCFM/2002072203.
Build ID 1.1b 2002072703 Option-clicking in scrollbar currently appears to function same as clicking. Using Mac OS 10.1.5 Also noticed, in Finder window option-click-dragging drags the slider from pointer location.

Marking INVALID as this is only supported when using the Classic theme (or Classic based themes) and as others have noted it does work there.
