Added Bug 1559392 as a see also: the patch attached to it is the Bug 1525178's follow-up that is going to re-introduce the "drag and drop file handling" (but it isn't going to re-introduce the gDragDrop object that was part of the original implementation from the XUL about:addons page).

It works for me again. Maybe fixed by bug 1559392.
