Nika sees 200 MB of ghost window leaks in the memory report.
@ Edwin, did you click about:memory's "GC" or "Minimize memory usage" buttons before saving your memory report? If the buttons "fix" the memory leak, then this leak is either not a bug or we might need to GC more often.

I did click "Minimize memory usage" as per the recommendation of one reddit guy.
The CPU usage suddenly spiked for a moment and nothing else. RAM usage too increased to 700 MB and went down to 600*MB.
Nothing else happened.
Not sure what is going on. I can confirm that FF was not like this before (maybe before v71, not sure)

Andrew, is there any additional information the bug reporter can share that could help identify these 200 MB of ghost windows?

Are you using any addons, particularly any that interact with Reddit? Do you use the new or old Reddit? I use Reddit quite a bit and I haven't noticed any ghost windows like this, but I'll have to keep an eye on my about:memory.
The memory report shows some language detection worker running (translation/cld-worker.js). I wonder if that's related, or if that is just a coincidence.

@mccr8 I will stop this off topic after this and apologize. Just consider the fact, that the users you lost over those users who once had leaks and ghosts. You have lost users, haven't you?

I agree that ghost windows are bad. Ghost windows are probably the worst single performance issue any user will experience. I have spent a lot of effort over the years fixing ghost windows and developing tools to detect and investigate ghost windows. However, I can only fix leaks that I can reproduce.

Thank you for the response.
I use the new reddit as default, even though it's a bit laggy.
I do not use any kind of reddit specific addons.
Add-ons I use are:
i) uBlock Origin - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
ii) Language Transliteration - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/language-transliteration/ - This addon is just for typing my regional language just like in 'Google input tools', it doesn't have any effect on any web pages, just opens up a typing window when clicked. Never had to use it when on reddit.
iii) Simple Translate - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/simple-translate/ - I use this thing on webpages or forums with foreign languages, but never on reddit.
iv) SmartHTTPS - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/smart-https-revived/

If you can easily reproduce this, you could try disabling the translation addons and see if that helps. There's some language stuff in your about:memory report, so maybe it is related, but maybe not.

I am not getting this issue anymore. I'm not sure what happened. I think the issue went away on its own.
