I'm currently using MacOS Catalina 10.15.4
Hi Barathwaja S,
Thanks for reporting this bug.
I tried reproducing the described issue but I was unable to see any error. I tested on Macbook Pro MacOSX 10.15 using Firefox Nightly 77.0a1 (2020-04-30) (64-bit).
Could you provide more specific steps, and if possible screenshots or a screen recording of the issue? This always helps.
Please also try the following:
- Does this issue occur with a fresh profile as well? You can find the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager
- Please download Firefox Nightly from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/ , to see if the issue still occurs there as well.
Regards,
Virginia

I cannot screen share in Google Hangouts from either Firefox or Chrome (both encounter the same error). This might be an OS-level permissions thing. Looking into it.

OS X Catalina now requires you to explicitly allow applications to do screen capture, and it may be that Firefox does not have this permission on your machine. Further, the OS X permission grant dialog for this is not very user-friendly; only one such prompt is ever displayed at a time, and if there is a prompt for some other application that has never been acknowledged, that prompt will pop to the forefront.
For example, a while ago I must have ignored a screen capture OS level prompt for Cisco Webex. That permission prompt has been sitting in the background buried under other windows for a couple of weeks. When I tried to screenshare with a fresh install of Firefox release, the permission prompt for Webex was displayed, which is all kinds of confusing. If I ignore it again, it does not pop up again the next time I try to screen capture with Firefox; Firefox just errors out with no sign of the OS level prompt.
So, if you can, double-check that you do not have one of these prompts laying around somewhere hidden among your open windows. If you do, resolve it one way or another. Once you do this, you may get a prompt for the next application in the queue (eg; Firefox).

Because this bug's Severity has not been changed from the default since it was filed, and it's Priority is -- (non,) indicating it has has not been previously triaged, the bug's Severity is being updated to -- (default, untriaged.)

This is working for me and not actionable without more information from the reporter. It sounds like an OS permission prompt issue. Please reopen if that is not the case.
