RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 615957

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:75.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/75.0

Steps to reproduce:

Accidental key presses when using thunderbird may easily result in messages being lost because they can get archived, marked as read, untagged or maybe even deleted.

This is a significant issue made more serious by the fact that accidental key presses can be extremely easy when using TB (not just the relatively rare issue of the cat jumping on the desk). It is enough to believe that you are typing in a search box when your are not.

The manual contains a section entitled "Customize or disable keyboard shortcuts" but this is rather tricky because there seems to be no way to disable the shortcuts in recent TB.

Please assure that there is a way to disable all the shortcuts that work without a simultaneous key presss (e.g., CTRL+something or ALT+something is relatively safe, just "A" is not), or even better to protect these shortcuts under a toggle.

I am marking this as an enhancement request, but IMHO the risk of missing messages is a bug.
