Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:76.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/76.0
Steps to reproduce:
i have open a site(this is not care fake or original) and i try to download a file (i search for download a file) but site redirect me into pages and when i try to to back site never allow me to back first place and site repeatedly redirect me into fake pages and only way to back use history but issue won't fix, also i forgot the site name. any one know please add here .
Actual results:
one of the most annoying things on the internet is websites that hijack your browser. Unfortunately, this isn’t something exclusive to shady websites. You’ve probably run across a legitimate website that doesn’t let you go to the previous page when you click the Back button.
You search for something on Google, bing, etc and select a result, but you realize it’s not what you were looking for. When you click the Back button to leave the website it simply refreshes the page or refuses to go back. The only way to leave the page is to mash the Back button repeatedly or open your History and select the previous page.
Expected results:
please combating these “history manipulation” tactics. That’s how these websites prevent you from leaving with the Back button. They manipulate your browsing history so going “Back” doesn’t go where you expect.
Mark entries to be skipped on back for history manipulation intervention.
Entries that are added to the back/forward list without the user's intention
are marked to be skipped on subsequent back button invocations.
This CL only adds the bit and subsequent CLs will add metrics and the intervention
logic based on this bit.

hi i found a web site that do abuse
-Go to: https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/air-india-passenger-tests-coronavirus-positive-1682333-2020-05-27
-Scroll to the bottom of the page, and to the top again. And stay there for a few seconds (3 to 4 seconds would be enough)
-Press the back button, observe that it take more than a single press to go back and sometimes it just refuses to go back and sometimes it takes several clicks before it works.

I tried with the steps in comment 10 and could not reproduce. I'm closing this as WFM. Please re-open if this is still happening for you.

This seems related to/block bug 1645211. Let's revisit this after that bug.

The bug has a release status flag that shows some version of Firefox is affected, thus it will be considered confirmed.

This looks fixed to me on the Latest Nightly build 132.0a1 across platforms (Windows 11, macOS 13 and Ubuntu 22.04) using the websites from comment 8 and comment 10 now that bug 1734181 was fixed (re-enabling browser.navigation.requireUserInteraction
). I will go ahead and close this bug.
