RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1398567

People

(Reporter: kaygeee, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:77.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/77.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Copy exactly: BT7512/15
  2. Past Into the URL bar.
  3. Push Enter.

Actual results:

Error: Server Not Found
URL turned into: http://www.bt7512.com/15

Expected results:

The URL should have turned into:
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=BT7512/15

Because I was clearly looking for a product model number, not a server when i pasted my string into the URL/Search Bar:

Any search with a forward slash in it turns into a URL which is very annoying.

This might be desirable for example for:
github/khalilgharbaoui

Which turns into:
https://github.com/khalilgharbaoui

But not for everything by default.
