I have verified the following by using Firefox RC 80.0 (Build ID 20200818235255) on Windows 10 x64, macOS 10.15, and Ubuntu Linux 18.04:

  • The “Show” button is changed into “Reset” when the JSON is modified in “about:newtab#devtools”.
  • When pressed, the “Modify” button will display the modified version of the message.
  • When pressed, the “Reset” button will restore the JSON to the original state.
  • After the “Reset” button is pressed, the button will change to “Show” but the previously modified message will still be displayed if it was not closed before.
  • When pressed, the “Show” button will display the default message again.
