I used to really like the file bookmark option in netscape 4.6, but can see why
it was dropped. I thought if this idea you might like.
when you drag a URL (from the location bar) make the bookmarks menu be a DnD
target when you drag a URL over it, the bookmarks menu opens up and other menus
also open up. if you drop the URL into a bookmark menu entry the bookmark is
added to that.
it would be beautifully visual and intuitive?

WFM Win 98, drag the siteicon (not url) into Bookmarkmenu..
I'm running under Linux BTW.
yes the siteicon is what I meant, thanks.
I'm sure there are issues with DnD under linux (or any X) but since both areas
are in the same application it's probably not quite as difficult?
Looks like a dup of good old bug 18052 - which for some reason is made dup of a
fixed bug. (It isn't fixed testing with a current CVS, Linux)

Excellent, you know it's a good idea when someone else has had it before you :)
just for the record, I'm talking about the bookmarks menu at the top (with File,
Edit, View, etc...) not the bookmarks menu in the peronsal toolbar (which I
don't have viewable)
feel free to close this as a dupe if you feel it warranted
we've had problems w/ drag and drop into the menubar, especially under X (when
it messes up, your x server ends up stuck and there might be no way to use X w/o
killing it...)
