Working with table formatting is such a cumbersome (and time consuming) workflow in TB and not really up to speed compared to messaging apps from other vendors.
It would be highly appreciated if added to the popup
- insert tables
- and (detecting existing table structure) expand the popup with table formatting options.

Thanks. There's definitely room for improvement; however, this is not top of the list, and the list is long.
I guess we could address easy gains like bug 348196, which is similar.
- Are you aware that double-click on table will open table properties?
- Does table properties offer those options which you need?
- Which table formatting options would you want on table context menu?
- Insert on body context menu should probably open a submenu with things to insert.

- Are you aware that double-click on table will open table properties?
No
- Does table properties offer those options which you need?
No, I was looking for deleting/adding row(s)/columns
- Which table formatting options would you want on table context menu?
The same as being offered through > Format > Table
- Insert on body context menu should probably open a submenu with things to insert.
Yup, same as from > Format > Table
It would also be nice if the thunderbird toolbar would provide some minimal table buttons (add row, add column, remove row, remove column) IF the cursor is inside a table. (so users who don't use tables, aren't bothered by the extra buttons)
