Can't delete top sites from address bar dropdown using shift-delete

Steps to reproduce:
in the drop down menu, to select a recent site [above the main page, in the second line menu] am unable to delete a site from that list .. tried all sort of combinations of cntrl and delete, along with sometimes other keys, to find out that there is no longer any way to delete from this drop down menu
Actual results:
nothing, no deletion
Expected results:
delete the history line / site from the drop down menu

I couldn't reproduce the described behavior in:
Windows 10 Pro
Firefox 78.0.1 (64-bit)
Firefox Nightly 80.0a1 (2020-07-08) (64-bit)
You have the option to delete inside the dropdown in the hamburger menu, and also using the library icon in the search bar.
Please let us know if this issue is reproduced in the latest Nightly edition. You can download it from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/

I need to know what keys you used to delete the history in the drop down address bar ... I get none to work ..
If it matters, it's a one year old Acer laptop

the nightly exhibits the same error as the regular one ... this happened after the last update to 78.0.1
I have tried the shift key, ctrl key, alt key, windows key and function key in conjunction with the delete key while the history selection was highlighted ...

uh, still can't delete history in the drop down address bar menu ....
can you tell me what keys you used , the nightly does the same error ..

You can delete it from the library options, next to the URL bar, going to History > Clear Recent History > You should be prompted to a modal in which you can select the preferences.
The other option is to do it from the hamburger menu > Library > History > Clear Recent History. Mostly the same path as before but getting there through the hamburger menu.
Another option is to get into about:preferences# privacy > Go to the History section and do it from there. Also, you can select any other filters or options for History there.
If you want you can add any other details or specific webs that you are having trouble to delete in order to reproduce the issue.

i cannot get the history to change, none of the shortcut keys work ...
note: this is the history shown off the drop down bar off of the url bar ... not the library version of the history ..
it is the drop down menu off the url ..bar [left click] which gives seven choices of sites to visit next
at one time i could edit it with [i think] the shift key AND the delete key ..but no longer ..
i do not know the combination of keys to do a screenshot of the above ...

i can do a screenshot now ... windows key and prt scr key together , but i do not know how to add it here ??
again, this is the site history shown when you left click on the url bar ....

no, your response does not help ....
i do not wish to clear recent history, and i only want to delete sites in the url window drop down menu ...
i was able to do it before, and i cannot do it now ..
if you are unable to help, please refer this bug to someone that can help..

The dropdown in the address bar comes under the address bar component, so moving there.

Confirming, thanks for filing. I'm not sure whether this is an oversight or by design. Bug 1629122 is similar and might be a dupe, but since this one is specifically about Shift-Delete, I'll leave it open.

it is pretty much bug 1629122, we could hook up shift+del but without the full managing experience it would just be an undiscoverable fix.
