Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

This is an interesting request, shift+del for now only removes history, if a Top Site is pinned, it's not going to affect it.
I think we still don't have a bug to allow editing top sites directly from the urlbar, so let's this be it.

For at least 75 and 76, shift+del doesn't affect any of the top sites shown on initial address bar focus, whether they are pinned or not.

This is really weird. Shift-delete in the address bar doesn't remove things from bookmarks (other suggestions).
I'd much rather have a tip at the bottom like "This time search with..." to take the user to about:newtab, along with a settings gear that takes the user to about:preferences#home
.

Does it make sense for this to be under bug 1789661? The new menu button could be used to remove the Shortcuts results (previously called Top Sites) that are shown on first click.

Not for the initial release but it's something we could look into as a followup.
