User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0
Steps to reproduce:
Using the default homepage (usually “Firefox home”) when you start your browser, and having the bookmarks toolbar on the left pane. If I click on any links on the bookmarks toolbar, the browser will attempt to load, and then cancel loading, as if I didn't click on the bookmarks toolbar. I have to click on the links again afterwards to actually visit those links. I've tested by disabling all my extensions, the problem still persist. I tried changing my homepage (to start on “https://google.com”) and this bug no longer exist.
Actual results:
Simply put, if I'm using firefox's homepage, and click on the bookmarks toolbar on that homepage, the bookmarked page won't open (shows a loading icon on the tab, and then stops loading) unless I click on it again.
Expected results:
After the browser opens and is on firefox's home page, clicking on the links in the bookmarks menu should open that link and not require me to click on it twice.

Hi, I've tried replicating this on me end using Latest Nightly 81.0a1 (2020-08-19) (64-bit) Beta 80.0 (64-bit) and Release 79.0 (64-bit) , I'm attaching a video please let me know if I'm missing any step.
Can you try this on the latest version of nightly? You can download it from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/
I will move this over to a component so developers can take a look over it. If is not the correct component please feel free to change it to an appropriate one.
Thanks for the report.
Best regards, Clara.

This sounds like it is more to do with loading pages than bookmarks & history specifically.

@adomsyik, This sounds very similar to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1656189, which seems to have been fixed by FF 80. Could you upgrade to 80 and try to reproduce this?

It's been 19 days since the needinfo; tentatively resolving this. We can reopen if this is still happening and there is more clarity about what's going on.
