User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open new Firefox window
  2. Open any website in a new tab
  3. Open a new tab and open another website
  4. Navigate back to first tab and pin this tab
  5. Navigate to second tab and back to first tab
  6. Hit Cmd + w on this pinned tab

Actual results:

Pinned tab does not gets closed and instead second tab becomes active. Only way to close this pinned tab is by right clicking on it and clicking on "Close Tab"

Expected results:

Hitting Cmd + w should have closed the pinned tab

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

This is not a bug, it's working as designed. There's a bug open to discuss changes to this behavior and prompting the user (bug 1545611).

Thanks Francesco. But as a Firefox user, this is confusing to me. Moreover other browsers (like Chrome) simply close the tab on pressing Cmd + w. Hopefully this will be revisited and fixed in design. :)
