Details
We could probably ship pre-built wheels for the Python bindings for Apple Silicon. It is possible to cross-compile from XCode 12 on CircleCI (assuming rustc is also ready and able to do that).

This will require support in rustc.
There's work underway to make that possible: https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/73908
It seems rustc nightly can be built to support it, but it's not yet an official Tier 2 target, thus no pre-compiled toolchain is available through rustup.
I guess we have to wait for that to become available.
