User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:81.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/81.0
Steps to reproduce:
Attempting to hide the Firefox Pioneer icon from the toolbar.
Firefox built from: https://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-beta/rev/2e2ea4ebfb5506d71f2d2d0fe4e2f2e1bbaa4cd4
Firefox version: 81.0b9 (64-bit)
OS: Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla)
Actual results:
Right-clicking on the icon (to look for a hide extension button) opens a new tab at "about:pioneer".
The icon hides when "Customize" is opened, so it is unable to be dragged out of the toolbar.
Expected results:
An option to hide the icon on right-click and/or show the icon when "Customize" is open so that the icon can be removed from the toolbar.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

I can confirm this issue. If you are starting a study (currently there is only one), you get another icon in the toolbar, the green puzzle piece. This icon, which does nothing on click, can be hidden, but not the pioneer icon itself.
As nobody is caring, I leave Ion again. I would have loved to test this feature for you but if you don't care enough about this feature to at least implement it correctly for your testers.

This is actually intended for this phase of the project (MVP) - the product requirement was to remind the user that they are enrolled in Ion, so the icon is placed on the same side of the toolbar that the menu and whatsnew icons use.
However for the final consumer launch we will be using an add-on instead of the about: page, which will behave more like a normal add-on as you'd expect.
Sorry for the misunderstanding and thank you for trying Ion!
