I believe this is going to be fixed in bug 1666887 once it hits nightly/beta.

I have verified that this issue is no longer reproducible with the latest Firefox Beta (82.0b7 Build ID - 20201002191150), and the latest Firefox Nightly (83.0a1 Build ID - 20201004212809) installed, on Windows 10 x64, Ubuntu 18.04 x64, and Mac 10.15. It seems that this issue was fixed in bug 1666887 and I can confirm that the grey background from the "Similar Stories" section of the "Pocket" doorhanger no longer exceeds the separator line.
Considering the above I am closing this issue as RESOLVED-FIXED.
