This might be a regression from bug 1638233.

There are several changes in code between every 78.x.x Version for these dark/light mode bugs. And there are many new regressions from fixes for these bugs. It is therefore absolutely important to state the exact program version (e.g. 78.3.2) for these bugs.

Yes, I am using 78.3.2, but it might have regressed in an earlier release already.

I will probably fix this in bug 1668989, so it might be a duplicate, but I'll keep them separate for now.

Looks like this was not a duplicate after all. I upgraded to 78.4 and the issue is still occurring.
