RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1612414

Details

(Keywords: regression)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/86.0.4240.75 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

I freshly installed thunderbird 78.3.2 on a Mac OS X running 10.15.6 (Catalina).
I launched the profile manager from the command line (/Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin -ProfileManager)
I created a new profile on a SAMBA network share (FreeNAS)
I started Thunderbird using the default profile
Thunderbird does not appear to function (I can't get the preferences pane to open, no other menu commands seem to respond).
I quit Thunderbird
I switched to the original default profile
I launched Thunderbird
all appeared to operate normally.

so the problem seems to be trying to run a thunderbird with a profile store on a network drive on a MAC.

Actual results:

see above.
I also noticed that in the profile folder on the network drive, a folder "crashes" was created and an events folder and a file named store.json.mozlz4 was created. So something seems amiss.

Expected results:

When starting thunderbird with a profile stored on a network drive, all commands should have operated normally.
