Steps to reproduce:

when get messages selected, following download & rules sorting, if a new message is delivered to a folder, the folder name would highlight and the new messages would be starred in the folder until selected & read.
That has been the process for years.
In the last 2 releases this is no longer consistent.

Very few of the top level folders MIGHT be highlighted & the newest messages may be starred/bold for attention, but it is erratic.

At no time since this has started have all folders with new messages highlighted or messages starred/bold.

If an automated fetch occurs, all previous highlighted folders & messages are untoggled, - no highlighting

Actual results:

In the last 2 releases this is no longer consistent.

After an autofetch, the unclicked/unread folders & messages should remain highlighted/starred until accessed.

csminion, are you seeing this issue when using the latest update?

In 78.6.1 (32-bit): I will have to watch, unsure when it rolled out on this install.
Last I had paid attention too it was still incorrect.
I'll watch for behavior & report back in 48 - 72 hours (out of town tomorrow, emails slow on weekends)

@:wsmwk
I've been watching the results which at 1st glance seemed to be improved, however, observing consistently the last 8 weeks, it is only marginally working.

Many times (just now prompted me to reply as it was the worst instance I have observed) there will still be zero highlight of a folder or inbox with new or unread mail.

Or Inbox will be highlighted with no new mail in it, but new mail in non-highlighted sub folders (rules sorts applied)

In some cases, the account is highlighted but no inbox or folder highlights when new mail present.

In almost all cases, previous unread folders/mails will be unhighlighted or unstarred after a cycle of automated server new mail ping.

Also noted momentary onhover will kill highlighted notice unflagging it.
That should only occur onclick.

I have a few screen grabs of some but not all occurrences noted above.

This is hard for business - for instance, with recent fedex & USPS issues on delivery, if you do not see immediately a notice of shipment delay, it will be unflagged/unhighlighted and passed over perusing accounts for new mails.
Result - Cannot notify a customer or supplier if a time critical shipment goes awry.
With school - not seeing important notices regarding grades, school matter, etc.
With family, was not be alerted to urgent issues at assisted living for parent w severe dementia.
It's rough with TB behaving this way.

In days gone by, new/unread mail highlighting/bolding/starring worked pretty flawlessly.
Unless I shut out of tb untouched accounts/folder stayed highlighted & unread emailed remained starred/bold until accessed.
Obviously as describing, has not worked as before for a while.

If you want screen grabs, I'm more than happy to forward.

Also, not sure if this is relevant or not - I have TB is accessing about 10-12 accounts on multiple servers (my own domains, gmail, yahoo, outlook) but figured you should be informed in order to replicate conditions in testing.

Feel free to ask any other questions if you feel I have missed any details you need.

Several people have reported improvement when using version 91.
Is it better for you?

Sorry folks, been dealing with family matters out of state.
The bug is for the most part resolved, there is one odd behavior still occuring & unfortunately I will need to do a few screen grabs to explain it best.

The subfolders & inbox mostly retain persistant unread highlighting/bolding & asterisk when new content is delivery.

The peculiar behavior is an email account name can become bolded without the inbox or subsolders being bolded but possess new content.
In a particularly subdivided account the new emails MAY BE in the inbox
There may also be in both the inbox and/or entirely seperately in subfolders

No telling until all are examined.
I've accounts for 2 businesses with deeply subdivided categories (subfolders) where these unflagged emails could be sorted to.
Now as said before, most of the notification process is working correctly, except in these instances.

I've not seen rhyme or reason why it's happening, but when I see a highlighted account name with no highlighted inbox or subfolders, I know I am in for a tremendously long mouse hunt.

in the meanwhile I'll try to remember screen shots on the next occurrences.

Feel free to ask if anything is lass than clear as mud, I'm back and available again.
