Using BuildID 2002090708 on WinXP If you have an email message with 50+ CCs and you click on + to expand, status bar vanishes and no scroll bars appear. Clicking on the - to shrink leaves the message body pane unrefreshed (i.e. still contains CC list). Dragging another windoe over the top of it refreshes it (or minimising and restoring window).
I have spun off the last part as another bug because it is a regression, that is now bug 167468

The first part of this bug is a duplicate of bug 41994, and the second part has been spun off as bug 167468. Is there anything left to keep this bug open?

I agree that both bugs look related and probably caused by the same underlying problem. If this is duped against bug 41994 then that bug's summary would need to be generalised to cover both bugs. It seems it is the combination of header length and window size that causes the problem i.e. any size header with certain size windows or large header with any size window. Could the link to bug 167468 also put into bug 41994 if this bug is duped.
untargetting for now.

Re comment 2: This screenshot does not seem to miss the Messenger Status Bar, is it ?
Moving bug 167468 from "Blocks" to "Depends on", since it is bug 167468 which is included in bug 41994 Description. (I do not know if there is any dependence between them from a code point of view.) The current bug is described in bug 41994 Description (part 1 and 2). Adding "Blocks: 41994", since current bug is not marked as "Duplicate" yet.

Serge Gautherie, I disagree with your actions. 167468 is a separate problem from 41994; neither depends on the other. Bug 41994 appears to be all about "headers are too tall for the current window and so the display is glitchy." (Bug 91662 is about "headers are too *wide* for the current window and so the display is glitchy.") And bug 167468 is about a failure to refresh the message body display (closely related to bug 194638 and its dupes). The "disappearing scrollbars" is a red herring -- the entire message body disappears, the scrollbars go with it. This is a separate issue from the disappearing scrollbars described in bug 118513. I strongly agree with comment 9 that those two bugs entirely encompass the original report of this one, and that this should be closed as a dupe of bug 41994.
Removing erroneous dependencies, and duping, as described in comment 16. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 41994 ***
