RFE: Enable the CTL (Complex Text Layout) code on some ports tinderboxen to test
it on a wider range of platforms (currently only "speedracer"
(Solaris/SPARC/gcc) builds with --enable-ctl) as preparation to enable it by
default in the near future...
In theory the code should work on the platforms requested below...
Requested machines:
- "cement" (IRIX 6.5)
- "palermo" (HP-UX)
- "planetoid" (MacOSX/Darwin)
- "nebiros" (Solaris/SPARC/Sun Workshop)

cement & nebiros have been udpated. What happens if --enable-ctl is used on
other platforms such as AIX or BeOS?

AFAIK it should work on them, too... but first I was interested how/if the code
really works on the platforms listed above before starting to enable it on more
tinderboxen...
adding martin & salmi (to do the hp-ux palermo addition)
and phil (to do the aix stuff)...
roland how do we "test" to make sure ctl is working properly on these platforms?
url?
thanks

I guess Prabhat/Katakai can explain that better...
... but I can try it myself, too:
In theory you simply install Indic fonts (the BBC page has a download for
windows; X11 fonts can be provided on demand), go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/hindi/
and check if the hindi text is rendered correctly (the problem in real life is
that you need someone who can read hindi... I guess the easiest way is to attach
screenshots here and let prabhat verify them...).

I will try to create a test URL for verification purposes.

rbs created a nice test page for MathML - a table where the left entries show an
image "how it should look like corretly" and the right side "how the browser
actually renders it" (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/demo/texvsmml.xml -
see attachment 40252 [details] for a screenshot (from a very very old mozilla build)) -
what about creating the same for CTL ?

I can turn on --enable-ctl for the AIX tinderbox as soon as the fix for Bug
168531 is checked in.
