User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0
Steps to reproduce:
Using an account with OpenPGP enabled I compose an email to a friend whom I lack the key for in Thunderbird's keyring. I select Options → Require Encryption and send the email. I get a warning stating that there is a problem with the recipients key, and closing it opens a new dialog, which I'll refer to as the "recipient list dialog", listing my recipient as with the "no key available" status.
I click "Manage keys keys for selected recipient…" and a new dialog opens, which I'll refer to as the "key management dialog". I click "Discover new or updated key" and successfully import the key.
Actual results:
The key is not listed in the key management dialog. Closing it and returning to the recipient list dialog I still see the "no key available" status, and clicking "Manage keys keys for selected recipient…" brings me back to the key management dialog with no key listed. I'm stuck!
If I open the Key Manager I can see that the key is there, and if I set it's acceptance I can send my email without issue, so this is an acceptable workaround.
Expected results:
Once the key is imported it should be listed in the key management dialog so I immediately can set its acceptance so I am able to send the email. I should not have to involve the Key Manager. This worked in Thunderbird 78.3.0.

I can confirm this.
One first needs to close the two dialogs, and then have to explicitly go to the OpenPGP Key Manager to set it's acceptance.
Only then the encrypted message can be sent. The workflow can be improved.

Yes, I've also seen the bug, and have fixed it already in comm-central. Will try to uplift to 78.x asap.
