Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0

Steps to reproduce:

start TB while my VPN is still trying to connect
(with setting in TB is "check for new at start-up")

Actual results:

after the VPN has successfully connected, TB cannot connect to the mail server;
only a complete TB restart solves this situation

Expected results:

TB should be able connect to the mail server whenever a network connection is available, regardless of state at the time of startup

Component: Mail Window Front End → General
OS: Unspecified → macOS
Hardware: Unspecified → Desktop

@ajay,
Does this still reproduce when using version 91? And if you resolved the problem, what was the solution?

Flags: needinfo?(ajay)

@Wayne,
The problem disappeared some time ago, I think well before v91. And no, I didn't find a solution.

Flags: needinfo?(ajay)

Thanks for the update

The problem is back in version 102.14.0 with a twist.
Whenever the computer comes out off sleep (when TB was left open before), and the user selects "get messages"
TB stalls with a spinning icon. It cannot connect, cannot get messages, cannot display a message of any sorts.
Just stalls.

Version: 78 → Thunderbird 102
