Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:83.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/83.0
Hi,
I have tested your issue on Release version 83, Beta 85 and latest Nightly 85.0a1 (2020-12-14) using Ubuntu 18.04 and Windows 10 but could not reproduce it.
If the issue is still reproducible on your end, can you please retest this using latest Nightly build (https://nightly.mozilla.org/) using a new clean Firefox profile (https://goo.gl/AWo6h8) to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause, and report back the results?
Thanks for the report.

Okay, so it reproduced in latest nightly.
I am using GNOME Wayland session. On my default Nightly i am using MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 and Fission + WebRender.
I tried creating new profile, it reproduced in the new profile. Then i tried disabling MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 by removing it from my profile and re-logging in my Ubuntu account. It still reproduced in XWayland. Then i disabled WebRender and restarted Nightly, it still reproduced. So it reproduced in a fresh Nightly profile without WebRender and with WebRender on XWayland.
Further, I will move this over to a component so developers can take a look over it. If this is not the correct component please feel free to change it to an appropriate one.
Other related issue: bug 1538669
Thanks for the details.

Thank you for the report Lyubomir. So to confirm, this reproduces with or without webrender, with or without Fission, and with either native Wayland or XWayland?
Would you be able to try running mozregression to see if this is a regression and if so, what caused it? Instructions are here. Try picking a "good" build from a few years ago. If that build reproduces the same problem then there is no point proceeding with mozregression. But if that old build does not have the bug, then mozregression will let you find exactly when the bug was introduced. Let me know if you need any help!

Have you tried running an X11 Gnome session, and does it still flicker there?

I've just changed from GNOME to KDE (GNOME eradicated), i'm running KDE on X11 now and it still reproduces the flickering. Maybe something with my drivers, but who knows. I'm on metered connection now and have some personal issues to go through, so might not be able to run mozregression soon enough.

I've tried running mozregression.
With build from 2020-04-08 it still reproduces.
With older builds Firefox shows "Gah. Your tab crashed." Haven't checked exactly before which date it starts crashing, but it's somewhere around that time.
