we should change (add / remove where needed) the default chimera bookmarks.
eg: apple.com downloads, apple.com developer, mac sites like maccentral, and so forth.

Here's a default bookmarks file that I came up with.
seems like a lot in the personal toolbar to start with. Maybe we could shorten the names? "Mac News Tab Group" and "The Chimera Project" are pretty long and take a lot of space. All the developer documentation links should be cut. This is a end-user product and most users won't even have those installed. Also, we duplicate the mac news sites in the toolbar item group and in a separate folder, yet we don't duplicate the news sites outside the pers toolbar. Should we be consistent? It's not a big deal, just noticed it.
Sorry for the spam, but I just wanted to suggest a few more sites to consider adding to the bookmarks: Chimera Board - http://chimera.eternaltedium.com/ This is a great place for discussing (and troubleshooting) Chimera. Slashdot - http://slashdot.org/ (or http://apple.slashdot.org) Yes, I'm a dork, but so are lots of other Mac users. Open Directory Project - http://dmoz.org/ The other web directory (besides Yahoo). Maybe these are a little esoteric, but I feel like the current list is a little heavy on commercially-oriented websites.
i'd get rid of the Chimera bookmark folder (menu), since there's already a toolbar item and the relnotes stuff should be hooked into from the help menu (bug 167428). also agree with pink that we should shorten the names of the toolbar items.

This is what I was thinking for bookmarks - very simple, everything in folders on the personal toolbar, and most of the bookmarks are relevant non-programmer types. Thoughts?

Both of my attachments above are the same - I submitted twice by mistake.
erk, there's no line wrapping with either of those attachments. dave, could you pls reattach?

i prefer simon's attachment 102010 [details] + comment 6. in attachment 103255 [details], i wouldn't include folders for Sports, Entertainment...and maybe the Shopping one. (my own $0.02, mind you.) i'd get rid of the NY Times, as that requires a subscription (even though it's free). however, i *do* like the "submit feedback" email link. but, dave, are you sure you want it going directly to your addy? ;)

I need to get an alias / newsgroup set up rather than my own address.

This bookmarks file is derived from Simon's and takes into account some of the other comments above. It also includes the feedback mail link.

i think we should have a mix of folders and links on the personal toolbar just so people see they can have things other than folders there. just a thought.
The Sports bookmarks really seem out of place here, in an open-source browser (remember, this is not a branded build). I could take or leave IHT, too. I also agree with pinkerton that having a normal bookmark in the toolbar would be good. Google? I'd also rename the 'Mac News' to 'Mac News Tabs' just to promote the 'tab set bookmark' feature a little more.
Is there little or no intersection between users of open source browsers on OS X and people who follow sports? I'll remove the folder, though I suspect some Chimera users are also sports fans... Will add Google as a bookmark on the toolbar, and rename Mac News to Mac News Tabs. I will keep IHT because it is an example of excellent cross-browser DHTML.
Updated bookmarks file to address Simon's and Pinkerton's feedback.
