Crash Data
[Tracking Requested - why for this release]:
Crash report: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/66a00473-eef3-4981-b34e-cc8580201109
MOZ_CRASH Reason: MOZ_CRASH(Shutdown hanging before starting.)
this shutdownhang signature is spiking up significantly during the first hours of the 84.0 rollout to release users, it's currently accounting for over 20% of browser crashes.
many of the crash reports show the presence of various dll modules relating to different smart card vendors like aetpkss1.dll and others.
users from italy and brazil are overrepresented in those reports, since the use of smartcards for e-government and banking is probably more widespread in those locales.
while going through the reports of affected users many are commenting that they are no longer able to load pages or web content while a smart card is in use - all of this is very reminiscent of bug 1388370.
firefox 85 seems to be no longer badly affected by this same crash signature judging by early data from the new beta cycle.
