Hello,

Environment:

  • French locale
  • Thunderbird Daily in French
  • Gmail in French

Steps to reproduce:

  1. I don't know here if a locale with the sent folder with accent could have an impact.
  2. I just adding a Gmail account this morning to Thunderbird daily so I assume I have the default configuration for my new account.
  3. Try to move a mail to archive, here both with the h shortcut and with the contextual menu

Result:
Thunderbird creates a archive folder as sub folder of a buggy "Messages envoyés" with strange accents and keep the initial message to the folder it was. So I mean my message I tried to move from my inbox to Gmail "archive" is still in my Inbox folder at the end.

Expected result:
The message should move to the Gmail archives.

Let me know if I could help in any way.

Thanks in advance.

Not a duplicate, issue still occurs after bug 1686034 was fixed. Could be a made a duplicate of bug 1687452.

This is a specific issue, so I wouldn't merge it with bug 1687452.

Well, it was accidentally captured as part 3) in bug 1687452, and you can't fix it twice.

This only works if combined with the patch in bug 1687412, so let's wait for it.

Tried this morning to move a message to archive and doesn't work.

Magnus, does it work for you?

Flags: needinfo?(mkmelin+mozilla)

I'm not Magnus, but here is my answer: In TB 86 beta, selected folder Archivé (just a fun name) as archive folder in Gmail which I had switched to French. Visited another folder, selected a message, hit the a-key, et voilà: Message moved to the Archivé folder. Repeated with a folder called Archives, still working. So it's working as far as I can tell. Looks like Gene came to the same result in bug 1687452 comment #12 (and I'm pretty sure I tested it back then before filing a follow-up in bug 1687452 comment #11).

Yes, I set the gmail Archive folder to another folder named Blä.
Archiving into that works.
