Trailing dot at the end of each plain text message

RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 196584

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_6) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/14.0.1 Safari/605.1.15

Steps to reproduce:

I think what I did was upgrading Thunderbird on November 13h 2019.
My previously downloaded mails at that time does not show the below issue.

Actual results:

Since several versions (I don't remember exactly the one), every new text/plain mail I receive shows a trailing dot (.) at its end. It does not appear at screen for non text/plain mails, neither for text/plain netnews articles.

Note that if I read a mail received before November 13th 2019, it does not have that trailing dot. Only the mails received after that date on my computer have it.

Expected results:

There shouldn't be any trailing dots when reading text/plain mails.

This happens when a POP3 server delivers the wrong message size in the LIST response.

I see it at outlook.com.

As a workaround you could set the pref mail.server.default.dot_fix to FALSE
