Since the download is related to a specific webpage that you are browsing, this
should be a sheet not a modal dialog.
I'll confirm as an RFE.

Now if only sheets appeared as fast as modal dialogs... I got tired of waiting
(when I tried Safari) for a sheet to appear every time I push Command-S.
Maybe there should be no dialog at all if Command-S is pushed. My suggestion
would be to assign Command-S to "Save", without dialog, and have "Save As..." as
a separate menu item.

What happens when mutiple saves are triggered from the same document?
Or a "delayed" download triggers from a window in the background or a hidden tab?
Or even a "delayed" download triggered fro ma page/window that doesn't exist
anymore?
I've had many times in the past where I'd trigger 5 or 6 quick saves off an ftp
site via option-click... sometimes getting all the save? dialogs before the
downlaoding starts... and sometimes only getting 2 in before camino stops
sending requests and then I have the remaining dialogs pop up 5 minutes later
when those finished documents are completed.
I just can't see how using sheets here would work.

Chris C.'s comments are definitely true. I think it's possible to make the
dialogs at least modeless though.
This would be tricky to pull off, is probably not possible to do correctly, and
is unlikely to happen for 0.9. Marking it "future".

is this camino core only? i would think this would also be true in firefox &
thunderbird. i don't know if the same internal code has to change. if someone
in charge of this bug thinks so, perhaps the product can be changed to "all".

Camino throws its own save dialogs (from the sniffer code), so not core.
