0. With Firefox Android Nightly 87 on Android 11
1. Go to https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QvkE9n9eiIM
2. Set fullscreen
3. Activate the Top right gear
4. Select stats for nerds
5. Check the second line, the value for frames

Expected:
minimal dropped frame rate

Actual
A lot of frames are being dropped. (around 17% on my tests)

The initial reporter on webcompat created a profile.

Is this Fenix-specific? I'm just wondering if this should be filed against https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/, or if we think this is a Gecko issue.

It seems to be fenix on Android 11.
I can't reproduce on mac with rdm with firefox android ua.

Caused by the new aaudio backend on android 11.

This was reported as being Android 11 only, but I can repro on Android 9.

Yes thanks, I have a fix that works, but using AAudio a bit later this year sounds like the right path to make sure everything works.

The patch should apply cleanly to all branches.
