The mouse hit area for the tab close button has become smaller.
When trying to close tabs, I often hit the space at the end of the tab, between tab close button and tab edge.

Looking at the hover effect, it seems that the gap at the end of the tab is almost as wide as the close button itself.

Details for the bigger click target and the closing x have been handed off to Jared and are in the Figma prototype. Clearing out the NI for UX.
