The mouse hit area for the tab close button has become smaller.
When trying to close tabs, I often hit the space at the end of the tab, between tab close button and tab edge.

Looking at the hover effect, it seems that the gap at the end of the tab is almost as wide as the close button itself.

The hit target should indeed be bigger, NIing Aaron here to provide details of the hit target spec.

Details for the bigger click target and the closing x have been handed off to Jared and are in the Figma prototype. Clearing out the NI for UX.

This is fixed in bug 1696202. Duping over and I'll move the flags there as well.
