User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0
Steps to reproduce:
Just start Firefox
Actual results:
The first time Firefox opens after a reboot, letters in address bar are shown partially (the text "Search with Google or enter address", but also everything i type). When closed and reopened, everything seems normal, all letters are shown just fine.
Expected results:
Letters in address bar should be shown fully.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.
Note: IIRC, this started happening either on FF87 or 88. In previous versions it worked normally.

Hi Nick,
Could you please provide your about:support information?
Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create a new profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles.
Thanks for the report.
Best regards, Clara.

Very similar to bug 1708758 and bug 1710197. Over to Graphics for further triage.
Hi Clara,
No, it seems with a new profile, everything works fine. Also, it seems that this bug is identical to 1710197.
The funny thing is that when i finished my tests with the new profile, i changed the default profile to my old one and restarted FF. This was indeed the first time with the old profile after the restart and the problem reappeared, even though just 30 seconds ago it had worked fine with the new profile!

Nick, thank you for the report. Can you attach about:support to this bug?

Thank you for the info!
WebRender was enabled with native compositor on HD Graphics 4600 with 3 displays. native compositor or 3 displays might cause the problem. And there is already Bug 1692690 that is related to HD Graphics 4600.
Nick, can you check if the following address the problem for you?
- set pref gfx.webrender.compositor=false at about:config and restart Firefox.

Nick, could you also test nightly to see if it's fixed? If the problem is same as Bug 1700063, it is addressed on nightly.

Well, this seems to solve the problem.
As for the nightly, i'll try to test it later from home, it's not easy now.

Hmmm... "gfx.webrender.compositor=false" solved the problem once! I just rebooted at home and with this setting to False, the problem reappeared...
Going to check the nightly...

OK, the nightly indeed seems to solve the problem. I reverted "gfx.webrender.compositor" to "true", installed the nightly, activated my existing profile and tried it. I rebooted 3 times and after login i immediately executed the nightly. The problem did not occur all three times.
Waiting for the solution to appear in the stable version too... :)
Thanks!
