Right now we have a click helper function with a bit of duplication that's written in a mildly different way doing the same thing.
We've also had some bugs in 1 version and not the other, so if we had one cleaned up function that's shared, it would reduce future bugs like this, and allow us to remove a bit of code and complexity.
