RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1714878

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/91.0.4472.77 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Since beginning of June, my Thunderbird client is running at level 78.11.0. I have used TB on Windows 10 for months without any issues sending emails via Earthlink SMTP. Since upgrade to TB 78.11, I frequently get a failure message from TB when attempting to send an email.

Actual results:

Error popup with message:

Sending of the message failed.
The Outgoing server (SMTP) smtpauth.earthlink.net does not support the selected authentication method. Please change the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing Server (SMTP)'.

Expected results:

Email should have been sent successfully. The SMTP settings are correct:
Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Port: 587
Authentication method: Encrypted password
Connection security: STARTTLS

Settings have not changed for months. TB should not be failing after the version upgrade.

This seems to be the same as bug 1714878, I don't know how it happened, but you should change Authentication method to Normal password, then it will work.
