Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1), also 1.2b and netscape 7.0
When I start either mail/news or browser a dailog comes up where I have to click
OK . It says:
"Java plug-in error"
Java Plug-in for Netscape Navigator should not be used in Microsoft Internet
Explorer. Please use Java Plug-in for Microsoft Internet Explorer instead.
I have the latest Java Virtual Machine installed (1.4.1). The funny thing is
this happened out of a sudden. Mozilla had been running smoothly for a couple of
weeks without any problems. The after my girlfriend had used IE6 (i think) I now
have to click this stupid dialog everytime I start mozilla. There are no
problems other than this.
The process manager says it is mozilla.exe or netscp.exe that displays the dialog.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Java to no avail.
Also look at another posting of this problem:
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=java+plug-in+error+XP&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=an0qkc%241jc2%40ripley.netscape.com&rnum=1
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start either mozilla mail/news or browser

-> Invalid
You changed Mozilla UA String.
Please remove that line in the prefs.js or create a new profile.

Ok, I opened profile manager expecting the error to show up, it didn't. Made a
new user test and opened the browser expecting the error, it didn't. Now it's
gone for good even though I deleted the test profile. very strange.

You must close Mozilla before you edit/remove the UA line.
