Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0

Steps to reproduce:

typing text in fast filter ("Schnellfilter" is the German translation)

Actual results:

a new tab appears after a while with a dedicated searc window that searches in all folders where I didn't even want Thunderbird to search

Expected results:

I should be able to finish typing my search term without being interrupted and Thunderbird becoming unresponsive for 30 seconds. And it shouldn't search where I don't want it to search.

like Bug 944942 ? Quick Filter Bar search delay should be longer or configurable (premature search on unfinished word takes long in big folders)

Summary: Sometimes typing in fast filter leads to opening a new tab and Thunderbird becoming unresponsive for half a minute → Sometimes typing in quick filter leads to opening a new tab and Thunderbird becoming unresponsive for half a minute

No, quick search is ok here. What bothers me is that sometimes quick search thinks it is not good enough and decides to to do a full search on all folders, thereby leaving the gui unreponsive for some time.

Correction: I meant "quick search speed".

Thomas (reporter), are you still seeing this problem...

Still using TB78, but yes: I'm using CardBook. So you can close this for now and I will follow https://gitlab.com/CardBook/CardBook/-/issues/1259 .
