STR:

  1. visit https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/gallery/images
  2. look at button text of Upload a New Media File button

Actual (see screenshot)

  • Button text of Upload a New Media File button in SUMO Media Gallery is cut off
  • Button hard to read, hence hard to find
  • Strangely, it happens when the window is wide, and reducing window width will fix it

Expected

  • Ensure button text isn't cut off, so that important function is easy to find
  • Prevent needless line break in button text when there's sufficient window width

I have an OS zoom factor set, maybe some wrong calculation somewhere.

This is no longer reproducible for the en-US page locale but it seems to be reproducible on other locales like fr.

See attached image.

Is this a new bug or is it related to this one? I had to either change my Windows 10 display settings scale and layout [*] or change the taskbar position from the bottom to the right and extend the Firefox window to the bottom of the screen to show the missing "Upload file" button at the bottom of the "Upload a New Media File" box. This has been the case for a number of weeks now for me (en-US file uploads.)

[*] My Windows 10 laptop Display settings under Scale and layout have always been at the default "125% (Recommended)" setting. The bottom of the "Upload a New Media File" box is now cut off with this setting so the "Cancel" and "Upload File" buttons are missing. The buttons are shown if I change my Windows Display setting to 100% but that is not the preferred setting for my computer Related Microsoft thread.

Hi Alice,

We have a couple of issue filed for this inside the SUMO github repo: https://github.com/mozilla/sumo/issues/1823 & https://github.com/mozilla/sumo/issues/1822.

Hi Alice,

We have a couple of issue filed for this inside the SUMO github repo: https://github.com/mozilla/sumo/issues/1823 & https://github.com/mozilla/sumo/issues/1822.

I added a comment to https://github.com/mozilla/sumo/issues/1822 [Mobile] Unable to upload files to Media Gallery #1822 that this issue is not limited to mobile devices since it also affects my Windows 10 laptop computer. I also included a link to a screenshot and a link to this bug.

If there isn't another bugzilla report that applies, can the summary for this bug report be edited to include missing "Cancel" and "Upload file" buttons... or should a new bugzilla report be filed?

Thanks Allice!

This particular Bugzilla bug was initially filled for the Upload a New Media File button being cut off on en-US locales. The problem was resolved on en-US locales but this issue is still reproducible on non en-US locales and I've decided to not close this Bugzilla ticket until this issue is resolved globally (I've filled a follow-up ticket in GitHub for the non en-US case -> https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1724648#c1)

So I think that the problem with the upload modal being unresponsive to different screen resolutions can be treated as a different issue/filled in a separate ticket (if we want to have this issue tracked in Bugzilla as well). I believe that a fix for both issues mentioned in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1724648#c3 should also fix things on your end.

Thanks, Emil. I filed bug 1905372 on this issue.
