User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0
Steps to reproduce:
Paste an email address into the To: box.
Actual results:
Thunderbird added " > > similar email address" and when I exited the box it replaced the email address I had entered with the similar email address it found in my address book.
Expected results:
Thunderbird should have used the email address I entered.

A combination, or one of, bug 1709560 and bug 1463435?

It's probably related to those bugs, but in my case the address I pasted already had an exact match in my address book, and it was not a substring of the autocomplete address. It looks like it (1) found the pasted email address in the address book, (2) took the full name from the address book entry, and (3) used that name to autocomplete another email address that matched the full name. In short, it always wants to use the @yahoo.com address instead of the @gmail.com address even when I explicitly paste in a gmail address.

Thank you Wayne for narrowing down the triage scope!
Bug 1709560 would probably fix this, but then, we may not want Bug 1709560 as it's pretty restrictive (typing old email address and still getting new address as a secondary result does sound like a potentially interesting use case).
For the time being, to me this looks like duplicate of bug 1524076 (where I've just pinged for patchlove), and even if it's not an exact duplicate, imo that bug should fix this, too, because an exactly matching address should get the highest autocomplete result ranking score there.
Reporter, do you have any card for M. Sa r mi en to
in your address book which has both of his addresses on the same card, the gmail and the yahoo address?
