User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0
Steps to reproduce:
With TB91.0.3 I select Tools → Address Book → File → New → LDAP Directory…
https://www.oms.aegee.org/wiki/index.php?title=LDAP_Address_Book lists db.debian.org as public address book . In Gnome Evolution I can integrate the LDAP server in the Addressbook, but not in Thunderbird. Anonymous/public address book means, that no BIND DN is provided.
Actual results:
As can be seen by the call
ldapsearch -xZZ -H ldap://ldap.aegee.org -b "o=AEGEE"
this anonymous LDAP server contains nearly 200 objectClass=person+organizationalPerson+inetOrgPerson . The server does require STARTTLS command, before returing the namingContexts of the root DSE (“ldapsearch -xZs base -H ldap://ldap.aegee.org -b "" namingContexts” will not work without Z). Likewise it requires STARTTLS before returning any data in the directory. The UI does not allow me to tick “STARTTLS is a must” ⇔ “Use secure connection (SSL)” is not the same as STARTTLS.
Expected results:
• The address book should have allowed me to integrate the output of:
ldapsearch -xZZ -H ldap://ldap.aegee.org -b "o=AEGEE"
• The “Find” button in the “New LDAP Directory” dialog should be clickable.

I ticked the "Use SSL". Then it works.
We never supported StartTLS for LDAP I think.
