User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0
Steps to reproduce:
Nothing - well, not correct. But I do not recall. I guess at some point I had opened a specific email in a tabbed window and I was viewing a specific folder in the main tab.
Actual results:
For a few days now, whenever I start Thunderbird, the folder that is shown is some specific local folder A (that it should not be). Also, a tab is opened of a specific message B.
When I switch the view to, say, the Unified Inbox; and when I close the tabbed message, both works for this session.
When I restart Thunderbird, Folder A is again shown by default, and Message B is in a tabbed window.
My interpretation: some time ago, Thunderbird recorded some kind of snapshot of A & B and now reinstates that whenever I start Thunderbird.
The bug is that this behaviour, which I circumscribe as reinstating a snapshot of views, is happening.
Deactivating all addons does not have any effect.
Expected results:
I want Thunderbird to not show A & B.
Also, when I have opened another message C in a tab in one session, quit this session and restart Thunderbird, then C is not opened again.

Does problem reproduce when using newer version (91 for example) with Help > Troubleshoot mode?
Hi, I now run 91.2.0
yes, the problem still reproduces.
I have meanwhile removed the email - fittingly, it does not open anymore in a tab.
However, the folder still exists - and still opens when I start Thunderbird.
When I rename the folder, restarting Thunderbird then gets me an initial view, with no folder selected (i.e. blank).
When I revert the folder to its older name (and restart TB), then TB again opens that folder.

Help > More Troubleshooting information
click on "Open folder" for the Profile Folder.
Shut down Thunderbird.
Delete session.json in the Thunderbird profile directory.
Start Thunderbird
(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #6)
Help > More Troubleshooting information
click on "Open folder" for the Profile Folder.
Shut down Thunderbird.
Delete session.json in the Thunderbird profile directory.
Start Thunderbird
yeah, that solved the issue. Do you like me to share the content of the session.json file - as to see whether there was something wrong?

Not necessary. I'm guessing the file was set to read only, so Thunderbird was not able to update/replace the file.
