Details
You should be able to temporarily disable your history so that you can visit
sites that you are ashamed of without compromising the utility of the history
mechanism.

This is a great idea, but I think it would be more suited for a plug-in like the
Preferences Toolbar ( http://www.xulplanet.com/downloads/prefbar/ ); otherwise,
where would such a preference go?

Global history, for sure. I would still want to be able to use the back button,
even in history-off mode.
