Steps to reproduce

In the Folder pane go to Folders, select Unified Folders.
Right-click on any unified folder (e.g. Inbox) and select Properties.
In the Properties window click on the Choose button, check or uncheck any folder to be searched or do nothing. Click on OK or Cancel.

Actual results:

The drop down window with the folder list closes and Thunderbird becomes unresponsive (freezes).
You'll have to quit Thunderbird via the menu Thunderbird > Quit Thunderbird. The keyboard short cuts no longer work.

Expected results:

TB should not freeze and the GUI should stay responsive.

I think this goes back to bug 1699514
