Apply columns to folder and its children does not work (after column settings have been lost/reset?)

Steps to reproduce:
I change the selection of columns to display in a folder, and then Apply columns to... Folder and its children... and specify the folder on which I have just made changes.
Actual results:
No child folders have the column selection changed.
Further, the folder for which I changed column selection can lose it, and I have to re-specify the selection that I desire.
Sometimes counts of emails in the folder that display to the right of the tree seem to be getting re-evaluated, but this does not always happen.
Expected results:
Children folders should have their column selection and sequence match the parent, and the changes to all folders including the parent folder should be persistent.
Do automatic updates blow away these changes?

works fine for me - 94.0b2 on Mac with fastmail account folders
Did you confirm it also fails in what used to be safe mode? Help > Troubleshoot mode
Hello Wayne,
Did you confirm it also fails in ... Troubleshoot mode
Since I don't know what it be that triggers reversion/loss of column settings, it will be difficult to prove anything by going into troubleshooting mode, but I will run it that way for a while and see.

I don't know whether it be pertinent, but I keep my emails after receiving in a separate local ("special") account, not associated with an identity or mail server, for the purpose of archival (but not "hiding").

sanaturo,
Unclear to me what comment 3 means.
But it sounds like you are also losing column settings, which I don't think you mentioned in comment 0?
But we can't proceed without more information from you.
Hello Wayne,

I believe that was the case.

Sorry, since my last comment, I decided to revert to the GA version, and am now at 91.4.1 (64-bit), and it works for me.
I may still be able to answer questions if you have others.
