User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:94.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/94.0

Steps to reproduce:

simply switching to another mailbox

Actual results:

TB only partly responding, RAM-Usage climbs up to 8GB and increasing

Expected results:

smoothly switching to another mailbox ...

Did you try in troubleshoot mode?

Yes, I did.
Unfortunately it happens only sometimes so In cannot reproduce it.
Now suddenly in troubleshoot mode I find very old (2013) eMails in various flavours: correct text, with headlines and or pure text and sometimes the same eMail 10 times repeated in the same various flavours.
I think there is an issue with compacting the INBOX and deleting eMails.

Bug 1734847?

In other words, try doing properties > repair on one or more folders.
