Steps to reproduce:
In Thunderbird 91.4.0 when opening pdf attachment(with selected "Always ask" option in Preferences for opening the pdf file) the window that was shown had "Open with" selected. Now in Thunderbird 91.4.1 there in no default option selected. Unless this is an intended feature.
Actual results:
There where no default option selected. I had to click "Open with" radio button and then OK to open the file.
Expected results:
There should be "Open with" selected.

We are also seeing this problem in 91.4.1.
91.4.0 does not have the problem.
Same here, last usage of the radio button is not preserved, anymore and one has to select the option every time the dialog opens. This is happening since the update 91.4.0 -> 91.4.1, I'd guess.

I can confirm this on trunk as well. Likely from bug 1737711.

Thanks much Magnus for confirming this early.
Unfortunately I didn't see this when I filed bug 1749757.
In terms of bug management, I think bug 1749757 is already in a much better state (for details, see bug 1749757 comment #8), so I think our best foot forward is to consolidate and continue there.
