User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:95.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/95.0

Steps to reproduce:

Load e-mail with image/PDF attachment. Double click or right click->open and select "Open with" (E.g. Acrobat etc).

It seems there is a problem creating the temporary file in msgHdrView.js (error log attached)

Actual results:

Nothing happens, no PDF is opened.

Expected results:

The PDF should open either in Thunderbird PDF preview or the chosen application

Keywords: regression

Awesome, thanks Tom.
I'm getting the exact same error message for my bug 1749757, which makes this a duplicate.
See my screenshot of attachment 9258685 [details] which shows that it fails to select a radio option by default.
Workaround: Please ensure that when you are asked about opening vs. saving, one of the options is actually selected (radio box "checked").
With that, everything works for me as it should, for all options Ask/Open with/Save.

Hi Thomas, thanks very much for the info and assistance. Yes, I noticed that the neither radio was selected by default. I've tried manually selecting as well and in my case it doesn't work even selecting the 'Open with' radio box. Selecting the 'Save' radio box then opening through explorer does seem to work.

However, I'm pretty sure that the problem is also linked to the bug Magnus linked in as the PDF has ':' characters at least in the filename. I haven't tried forwarding the email to myself and just changing the attachment filename but will give this a go.
